Amsterdam is a world city. It’s a city of chaosmos. Lose yourself in the crowd.
Amsterdam is a world city. It’s a city of chaosmos. Lose yourself in the crowd.
I went to Amsterdam to see him. Spinoza, the prince of philosophers. “Every philosopher has two philosophies, their own and Spinoza’s,” Bergson famously said. Now petrified, you read this sentence at his pedestal: “The goal of the state is freedom.” Let’s not ever forget that!
Again, a study of reflection. In Amsterdam, the city of water, reflected light lingers on the river's surface. Looking at the dazzling light flickering, why do we feel somehow liberated? Liberated from what?
At one time in my life, I was obsessed with reflected light. I don’t know why. But it makes everything beautiful. It’s sunlight all right. It’s the light's protest against itself. Reflected light is akin to moonlight. So it’s as if the moon descended to earth during the day. You know what I mean? Another world arrives. In Amsterdam.
