これはなんだっけ。動物（昆虫）が加工したもの？　開けるのも悪いから開けなかったので知識の扉が開かなかった。空は永遠の青。 What the hell is this? Something fabricated by an animal, an insect? I thought it bad if I opened it and didn’t so the door to knowledge, too, remained closed. Only the blue of the sky is eternal.

フーコーのプレイヤッド版著作集は2015年11月5日発売。もりもり読み進むつもりだったけれど、ページを開かぬうちに5年経ってしまいました。そんな人生。 Foucault’s two-volume works published on 5 November 2015. I did mean to read them through, but before I knew it five years have passed without my opening their pages. Así es la vida.

この窓に出会った。強い印象を受けた。ずっと忘れていた。いまもどこだったか思い出せない。 Once I encountered this window. I was impressed by its luminosity. But I have long forgotten about it. Even now, I can’t recall where it was...

むかしの写真、どこで撮ったのかぜんぜん思い出せないものがある。でもね。それがわれわれの人生の実質、夢の素材。 Some of the old photographs are hard to remember. You can’t recall where and when you took it. And why? But that’s the stuff our lives and dreams are made of.

この目の哀しさ。作られた動物はいつも生きている動物よりも哀しい。 Look how sad the eye! The figure of an animal is always sadder than the real animal alive.

これはどこだったのかな、思い出せない。どこかの空港の、毛沢東をテーマにした中華レストラン。大量殺人を辞さなかった独裁者へのノスタルジア？ I can't locate this anymore. It must be a Chinese restaurant at an airport somewhere with Mao as the theme. Could one be nostalgic about a dictator who never hesitated to commit multiple mass murders?

三河湾の鬼あさりは、まるで秋の果実。焼いて、噛みしめれば、まるで海に潜ったような気持ち。 This giant clam is from the Bay of Mikawa. It’s some sort of autumn fruit, really. Grill it, chew it, and suddenly you find yourself plunged under the blue water.

思い切りアメリカンなダイナー。気に入って毎日行きました。 A surprisingly American diner in Lahti. I loved the place so much that I ate there every day of my sojourn.

これがカレリアン・ベアー・ドッグ！　フィンランドまで来た甲斐がありました。 This is the Karelian Bear Dog... sort of like the Akita of Finland. This unexpected encounter really made my day!
